Here is Bob Hardy at the Alzheimer Society Walk for Memories in Cornwall, doing what he does best, inspiring us to keep going. This is Bob’s most recent walkerthon attempting to complete a course of 21 KM in 2 hours and 30 minutes with a walker. Just shy of his goal time-wise at 2 hours and 50 minutes, Bob reported this was his best walk ever in terms of feeling well during and after.
On the morning of the walk, after months of practice walks in preparation, Bob power walked 21 KM in just 2 hours and 50 minutes, lap after lap on the track, with his time kept by a volunteer timekeeper, stopping when needed for hydration and energy refueling.
How does he do it? Determination, a positive attitude and the ability to see himself as the athlete he is, despite his balance condition. Not only is he a survivor of cancer, stroke, bone marrow transplant and hip replacement, to the people he inspires to keep going, he is a hero.
