Hugo Hero Bob Hardy finishes Lachine Half Marathon racing his walker

Hello!

As most of you know I race half marathons (21km) with my HUGO walker. A most unusual sport. For me it is a compensatory benignity since my bicycle racing days ended. It was a combination of post Leukemia side effects and the two recent strokes that caused the problem. After two years there are improvements. I believe I will race my bicycle again.

In the meantime I get to speed walk for Alzheimer’s Society. Why Alzheimer’s Society? Because me mam died with Alzheimer’s and it was something I could have never imagined in my worst nightmares.

The event: Alzheimer’s Society. “Walk for Memories” on Sunday 18th, January, 2015 at the Civic complex in Cornwall.

If you wish you can make a donation using my online pledge form.

This will be my third Alzheimer’s half marathon. Last year I completed the 21 km course at the Tim Horton’s Dome in Alexandria in a time of 2 hours 46 minutes and 56 seconds and the event raised over $16,000.

On August 24th this year I completed the Lachine/Bonneville half Marathon in 2 hours, 48 minutes and 13 seconds. The event raised over $35,000 for Alzheimer’s.

HUGO Mobility sponsored all events and recorded my August 24th effort

You are welcome to come and join me for all or part of my walk. I am training for the event at the Dome in Alexandria.

Thank you
